A small independent press

Independent by Design

Hybrid publishing built around the author, not around us.

Koi House Press sits deliberately between traditional publishing and going it alone. In self-publishing, the author builds the business from nothing. In traditional publishing, authors increasingly work for the house. We think there is a better place to stand.

About the press
Koi House Press

A hybrid between traditional and self-publishing

We use AI to level the playing field between the two models — giving authors the knowledge, expertise, and support to build their own publishing business, without dictating their methods or their strategy.

That means real publishing infrastructure: editorial process, production, cover design, distribution, list-building. What it does not mean is signing away ownership. The work stays the author's. So does the business built around it.

You decide the strategy. We make sure you’ve got what you need to execute it.

Different readers, different shelves

Each imprint runs as its own line with its own identity, its own audience, and its own site. Koi House Press is the house they all sit under.
